“Vissi d’arte…”: Giacomo Puccini in digital collections. The General Direction for Libraries and Cultural Institutes in cooperation with the National Committee for Puccini celebrations and the National Committee for the bicentennial of Casa Ricordi, with the aim to enhance and distribute online the figure and works of Giacomo Puccini, presented for the occasion, “ vissi d’arte…” an exhibit which collected all the material digitalized up to date of the vast production of Giacomo Puccini. An unusual and innovative way to enhance and spread the figure and works of the Maestro from Lucca.
This was the third year of the Lu.Be.C. (Lucca Cultural Heritage), the annual exhibit dedicated to the analysis of the enhancement of cultural heritages for the economic development of the territory. This year’s event also included Lu.Be.C. Digital Technology which was held in Lucca on 15 and 16 November, 2007.
This was the first European exhibit for ICT solutions (Information, Communication & Media Technology) for the enhancement of cultural heritages and the promotion of the territory.
Particularly, this edition analyzed the topics concerning the triangle "territory/cultural heritage/technology", offering all the operators of the sector concrete instruments and meeting opportunities with the public and private Top Management representatives of the sector.
The Ministry for Cultural heritage and activities took part in the event this year for the first time by actively participating at the planned seminars. It also set up an institutional stand to present the latest projects on the enhancement of the cultural heritage aimed to the development of local tourism marketing. Italian cultural heritage is in fact the richest in the world and thanks to technologies it is possible to make culture and technology a winning combination. And this is the objective of the Ministry for Cultural heritage and activities and which it has been trying to exploit in the past few years to make the cultural heritage of our country profitable in an innovative way.
“..vissi d’arte” (I lived for art): are the words from the famous opera Tosca and they perfectly summarize the idea of the exhibit dedicated to the maestro Giacomo Puccini which was presented in Lu.Be.C (Lucca Beni culturali) 2007, the two-day exhibit dedicated to art and technology, which was held at the Real Collegio in Lucca on 15 and 16 of November.
The exhibit aims to offer a brief picture of the projects promoted by the General Direction for Libraries and Cultural Institutes in cooperation with the National.
