Ahi Mimì, my fleeting youth!
The idea of an important exhibition capable of uniting the appeal of the past and the technological wonders of modern times comes from the renewed collaboration between the Ricordi Archives, the Town Hall of Viareggio, the Committee for the Celebration of Casa Ricordi 1808-2008, the National Committee for Puccini Celebrations and the Puccini Festival Foundation. A unique exhibition which, through the numerous rooms, follows a path that is as modern as the great Maestro Giacomo Puccini himself.
“Ahi Mimì, mia breve gioventù” comes only a few months after the important Celeste Aida exhibition that inaugurated the Bicentennial Celebrations of Casa Ricordi at the La Scala Theater Museum. The exhibition in Milan generated a new standard in this field, capable of combining a precise historical artistic reconstruction with a wide use of multimedia technologies in order to realize a new format that will give life not only to the exhibition in Viareggio but also to a great international exhibition that will be realized in the upcoming months.
All the material on display at the “Ahi Mimì, mia breve gioventù” exhibition is part of the Historical Ricordi Archives that, through the largest private musical collection of original material made up of autographed manuscripts, librettos, drafts, letters, posters, tells the extraordinary entrepreneurial and artistic adventure of Casa Ricordi, collecting, among the very precious pages of its documents, two centuries of Italian civil, entrepreneurial, musical and theatrical history.
Starting today until September 3rd, the National Ricordi Committee site will host a thorough and complete visual documentation of the exhibition contents.
